Special thanks to Steve Petix and his mother, Dorothy, for finding this rare pic. It is the first picture I've been able to come across of Ted actually painting! This photo is from the cottage Ted and family rented in the summers in Peconic Bay on Long Island. Ted would convert the garage into a studio for the summer and paint, sometimes sitting in the chair looking out over the bay and sometimes with pipe in mouth, brooding over the canvas. He appears to be holding a palette knife in his right hand.
